Making an Impact

As a storyteller, you’ve crafted every sentence, every paragraph, every word to bring the listener into your world with the goal of informing or entertaining.

It’s taken a while but you got there in the end, your audiobook is finally recorded. Now the next task in this personal journey is to bring the finishing touches with quality audio editing.

For us audio editing is not just a job, it’s deeper than that, it’s a passion to serve others, it just happens to be in the audio engineering space. There is nothing more satisfying than providing a polished recording back to an excited client and making a positive impact in your production

Mistakes happen

Will you make mistakes in your recording? Sure you will but that is all part of the process and is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Once we have engaged on your project and started editing, working with your manuscript we compile a review sheet that covers each chapter with page number and time-stamps where there may be a pronunciation error or missing/incorrect word that cannot be repaired during editing. We feed this back to you and await the corrected recordings for final reinsertion into the audio.

Wait, there’s more…..

Sorry just had to put that in cheesy cliché in :o). But seriously, our audio editing is so much more, we look to remove or repair anything that will distract the listener from your intended experience.

After all you’ve fought hard to get your customer to buy your audiobook in the first place, you want to engage with them but more importantly you want them to buy your next audiobook. If care is not taken now in the audio quality or editing process, they won’t come back and that is a terrible loss.

Now these distractions can be background noises, umms, ahh’s, vocal pacing, recording levels, in-fact a plethora of interference can cause your valued listener to become disengaged with your audio. While we may have an agreed deadline for completion we do not rush the editing process, it’s important that we provide you with the very best product & experience possible throughout the process.

Audiobook editing costs

Surprisingly audiobook editing is not as expensive as you may think.

If you are new to us, to get a feeling we recommend you record a short piece, maybe a single chapter and submit for review & feedback. We will assess the audio quality & diction which will give us a baseline on expectations.

How you have recorded your audiobook is also important.

Punch & Roll recording – This has around 4:1 ratio meaning audio editing takes four hours for every one hour recorded

Click recording – This has around 4:1 ratio meaning audio editing takes four hours for every one hour recorded

Open recording – This has around 5:1 ratio meaning audio editing takes five hours for every one hour recorded.

There are many factors at play. If you are providing us with a recorded audiobook, generally it takes up to six weeks for the editing process to be completed. We run multiple quality checks that cover the word diction, vocal clarity as well as all the techie stuff.
